The Euro 5 engine standard marks a significant upgrade over the previous Euro 3 standard, delivering substantial environmental benefits. Euro 5 engines are designed with advanced technologies that reduce harmful emissions more effectively. Specifically, they feature improved exhaust gas recirculation and better catalytic converters which significantly lower the output of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter.
Compared to Euro 3, Euro 5 engines offer a dramatic decrease in pollutants. For instance, Euro 5 engines cut NOx emissions by over 50%, and particulate emissions are reduced by approximately 80%. This improvement translates to cleaner air, which is crucial for public health and environmental sustainability.
