Training & Professional Development

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

The Scania Way sets the tone for Leadership Development through the Scania Leadership Model. Built on the three cornerstones of Vision and Strategy, People and Team, System and Flow and further underpinned by the six Leadership Principles, Scania provides employees with the opportunity to positively contribute to the Scania Way of working. Leadership Development initiatives are provided through both local and global development sources.

DUAL TRADE APPRENTICESHIP

A Scania four-year apprenticeship to become a qualified heavy truck and bus technician, or a dual apprenticeship adding in auto electrics, is undertaken in concert with TAFE studies. Scania uniquely offers a dual trade whereby our apprentices will aim to qualify in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology and Automotive Electrical Technology. Scania’s apprentice programme has been exceptionally successful over many years, at producing qualified technicians who are excellent team players, astute at diagnostics and committed to maintaining our customers’ uptime.

Many of our senior management team began their careers on the tools and have graduated through to senior executive roles.

UPSKILLING TRAINING FOR TECHNICIANS

Scania offers to fund upskilling for light-vehicle technicians who want to transition to heavy-duty mechanics. For a technician joining Scania from a light-vehicle environment, the skills gap can be bridged in 12-24 months depending on the degree of motivation. Scania is keen to offer a career path and employment to technicians who join us as light-vehicle technicians and leverage their experience to achieve a higher level of qualification to be able to work on heavy-duty vehicles.
