Roger Lake, one of Scania Campbellfield’s New Truck Account Managers is aiming to hit a new high in bush bash donations for The Endeavour Foundation in 2023, driving his Recycal-sponsored highly modified luxury sedan “The Recycler”, from Cairns to Cape York and back.

Last year, the rally raised more than $600,000 to support people with a disability to live, learn, work and flourish independently. The Endeavour Foundation has locations from Melbourne to Port Douglas assisting people along the East Coast of Australia, and the rallies inject funds into the various regional areas.

Roger is partnered by his son, Flynn, and since the Maroochydore to Port Douglas event in 2022, has performed further enhancements to his car, not least of which is the eye-catching green paint scheme in Recycal’s eye-popping green.

“The ‘Recycler’ has been beefed up and is fitted with a 2.5L diesel with enough work done to it to get it into trouble, and a tow rope to get it out,” Roger says.

“I’m also donating the use of my 6x6 Landcruiser for my brother and one of the rally directors to use as the mobile office to run the entire event out of it, “he says.

“I have been doing these rallies to raise funds for people with disability for some years and have raised over $100,000 personally so far,” Roger says. “The charity is very special to me, as Flynn has been a beneficiary of The Endeavour Foundation’s programme, and now has a job at Maroondah Council under their diverse employment policy.

“This year I am hoping to raise even more money and have been assisted by Recycal sponsoring the car. Recycal is a loyal Scania customer, so I am hoping the Scania family and friends will get behind this year’s bash and support our entry and the people The Endeavour Foundation helps,” he says.

The cars and trip expenses are funded by the entrants, so all donations go directly to the charity to help people with disabilities.

Scrap metal and recycling powerhouse Recycal operates 30 new or near-new Scania trucks around the country with six more coming this year, including a unique R 770 V8 hooklift.
