Scania and Dynell partner to electrify airport ground support

12 FEBRUARY 2026

  • Scania enters a strategic partnership with Dynell, a provider of aviation ground support and charging equipment.
  • Under this agreement, Scania becomesa strategic supplier of industrial battery systems to Dynell.
  •  Scania’s Core 800 and 700 battery systems will power Dynell’s DEM 045-090 electric ground power units.
  • The collaboration marks a significant step towards the electrification of airport ground support.

Stockholm, Sweden – 12 February 2026  Austrian brand Dynell and Scania have announced a long-term partnership to accelerate the electrification of airport ground support equipment, replacing conventional diesel-powered solutions with efficient electric alternatives.

As part of the agreement, Scania will supply its industrial battery packs, Core 800 and 700, for integration into Dynell’s DEM 045–090 electric ground power units, delivering reliable mobile aircraft power with up to 90 kVA output.

Scania’s industrial battery systems are designed and manufactured in Europe, offering high energy density for a wide range of industrial applications, from 21 to 624 kWh. Built for demanding off-road and industrial use, it features an integrated Battery Management System (BMS), robust thermal management, and multilayer safety features, ensuring uncompromising safety and performance.

“This agreement marks a substantial step toward Scania’s strategy to support the transition to electrified low-emission solutions for industrial and off-highway applications.“

The fully electric DEM 045-090 ground unit serves as a mobile power supply for aircraft while parked on the ground, supporting a wide range of operations and facilitating battery-powered solutions for a broad spectrum of ground support equipment.

The collaboration begun in 2022, and this agreement highlights the trust placed in the reliability, flexibility, and safety of Scania’s battery systems. Dynell has already deployed hundreds of systems powered by Scania Core batteries, and expects to have around 500 units in service by 2026. This rapid expansion reflects the growing global demand for scalable, zero-emission ground support solutions.

“The partnership with Dynell is a strong validation of both our technology and our ability to deliver at scale. Integrating hundreds of Core battery systems into demanding airport environments is the result of close collaboration, deep expertise of our teams, and a shared commitment to electrification. This agreement marks a substantial step toward Scania’s strategy to support the transition to electrified low-emission solutions for industrial and off-highway applications.” said Elin Åkerström, Managing Director of Scania Industrial Batteries.

“For Dynell, this collaboration represents more than a technology partnership. It forms a cornerstone of the company’s long-term vision to help shape the next generation of airport infrastructure - quieter, cleaner, and digitally enabled. By combining Dynell’s application expertise with Scania’s proven battery technology, we are demonstrating how strong partnerships can accelerate the transformation of critical aviation systems.” said Michael Brandstötter, Head of Marketing & Sales of Dynell.

Through this partnership, Scania and Dynell are able to deliver future-ready solutions for aviation, helping customers reduce emissions, strengthen operational resilience, and accelerate the transition toward sustainable airport operations worldwide.
