February 27, 2014 – Scania Singapore sponsored three awards at the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Graduation Ceremony 2014 held at ITE College West, in recognition of the top three performing students from the School of Engineering.

The graduation ceremony is an annual college-wide event to celebrate all ITE Higher Nitec and Nitec students who have successfully completed their graduation requirements.

The recipients of the Scania Singapore Awards were:

  • Kwan Jun Pun, Henley – Nitec in Automotive Technology (Heavy Vehicle)
  • Soh Jun Hong - Nitec in Automotive Technology (Heavy Vehicle)
  • Lim Chin Kiat – Nitec in Automotive Technology (Light Vehicle)

Each recipient received a cash sponsorship of between SGD300 to SGD500 and a Scania model truck with all other graduates receiving a Scania goodie bag each.

“Since 2011, Scania Singapore has been in collaboration with ITE through various initiatives, and the sponsorship of this award further strengthens our commitment to encouraging students to strive for excellence and highlights Scania Singapore’s support of the students through the different stages of their education and professional path,” said Mark Cameron, Country Manager of Scania Singapore.

In line with the Scania Technical Traineeship Program, Scania Singapore’s contribution in a valuable way supports the promising youth of tomorrow. Scania Singapore believe that the young graduates of ITE hold enormous talent and potential that through appropriate career guidance and continuous learning and training, will be of future benefit to Scania owners and operators in Singapore.

This continuous partnership with ITE is also part of the long-term goal to elevate Scania Singapore’s brand presence for recruiting future technicians in this challenging sector. Through these engagements, Scania Singapore is able to share with potential employees how the organisation provides a career development path designed to groom and prepare them to undertake greater responsibilities.

With a calendar of activities planned for ITE, Scania Singapore is keen to show these students a glimpse of work culture and potential career prospects so that they will consider joining the Scania family upon graduation.

Mark said, “Meanwhile, we at Scania Singapore congratulate all students for their dedication and hard work in completing their course and we hope they use their full potential to achieve success in their studies and career”.
