With the team as driving force - SPS Office

23 APRIL 2024

Meet our employees at SPS Office, the department that works with Scania's production system (SPS) at Scania Oskarshamn.

The team consists of nine people who work primarily with method development, management and training within Scania's production system, SPS.

We often use our SPS house to describe how the different parts of the production system are connected. The foundation is our values, our leadership and how the different parts are dependent on each other. The production system describes our common way of thinking, so that together we can achieve the best possible result. Recently, the focus of SPS Office has been that the team has supported the business in carrying out a core value training. In 2023, the SPS house was updated with the aim of achieving more aligned core values within the Traton Group, to which Scania belongs. We have gone from six to five core values, where all core values have been given an updated meaning and more natural place in our house.

At SPS Office, there are great opportunities to be trained in leadership, gain deeper expertise in Scania's production system and also provide the opportunity to create a broad network of contacts. The team supports and trains locally, but also networks globally with the rest of the SPS Office within Scania, which also includes the China project (Scania's new factory in Rugao).

The department works closely with production to capture different needs and support the business. Within SPS there are several well-known methods and tools, one of these is TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) in which SPS Office supports and trains employees. Together with production and maintenance, the team ensures that we have high availability of our machinery.

Within the department, there is a work environment coordinator who works with issues related to SHE - safety, health and the work environment. The coordinator supports management, managers and others in the organisation in the daily systematic work environment management. The tasks include, among other things, participation in various working groups and identifying needs for the development of local work environment routines and instructions.

SPS in everyday life
One of the tools within SPS is 5S, which is a well-known method for organizing the workplace. 5S consists of the parts; Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardise and Sustain good habits. The method is also easy to apply at home. For example, in the kitchen, we often work to standardize in our kitchen drawers with cutlery baskets with the respective cutlery in its place. By removing unnecessary items and only having the necessary utensils available, the flow in the kitchen is simplified and streamlined. This method can also be applied to other parts of the home, such as the file management on your computer. Sort files, clean and standardize with a system to organize your folders with colors, contents, and designations, and you'll create good routines and habits for the future.
