Meet the returner Malin
30 NOVEMBER 2023
Away is good, but home is best. That is the feeling of Malin Skarp, who has broadened her horizons within Scania, but is now back in Oskarshamn.
- It's great to be back and it's a striking feeling how welcoming and familiar Scania Oskarshamn is. We are a team where everyone takes care of each other, she says.
After six years at Scania Oskarshamn, Malin moved to Södertälje in 2021 and became production manager for Scania's new foundry.
- Sometimes opportunities come up in your life that you have to accept. I don't want to be the one who later broods and regrets that I didn't take the chance, says Malin.
-It was cool to build a new foundry with unique processes, new equipment and exciting technology. I also appreciate the collaboration with all the fantastic individuals and was impressed by the high level of expertise. We became a tight team that helped each other in both good times and bad.
- It was an instructive time to be involved and then start production for the new DW6 engine platform. At the same time, it was fun to see other parts of Scania and build networks with new contacts.
In 2016, Malin made an open application to Scania Oskarshamn after having previously worked as Quality Manager at Husqvarna.
- Scania has always attracted me and been close to my heart. I wrote that I wanted to work at Scania and was a trained mechanical engineer, and Scania has been my employer ever since, she says.
- I started as Quality Manager for Press & Body Shop during the double run of the NTG cab (New Cab Generation). It was a very exciting period to be involved in launching a brand new cab. It was full speed from the first start.
When Malin returned from parental leave in 2019, she became workshop manager at the Press Shop.
- I entered my new role with a large dose of humility to listen and learn. I also felt good support from colleagues and managers to take on that challenge.
Malin moved back to Oskarshamn in 2022 after working on the start-up of Scania's new foundry in Södertälje. In Oskarshamn, she took up the position as the new quality manager for MB (the Press, Body Shop & the Paint Shops) and MC (Assembly and Internal Logistics).
Malin sees great similarities regardless of where she has worked at Scania.
- You recognize yourself and we work from the same structure. We have made a fantastic quality journey in Oskarshamn and deliver very high quality. We will continue to challenge where we have potential and work more proactively in our quality work to become even better, Malin concludes.
