MIDDLE EAST - GULF REGION

honoring our legacy, inspiring our future

Lebanon : In the mid-90s, the end of the Lebanese war created a sudden need for heavyhaulage transport to aid in homeland recovery. Transport companies responded by quickly restoring their fleets and modernizing with new trucks.

Sawaya Group, now representing Scania dealerships in Lebanon, introduced the brand new Scania T-144 to reinforce heavy-hauling operations, especially in rural areas. The Black Beast StoryThe truck was tasked with transporting a 120-ton electrical transformer from a valley surrounded by mountains. Despite doubts about the challenging 30-mile, ruined uphill journey, the Scania T-144 successfully navigated the terrain, demonstrating its strength and reliability.

“Pulling the handbrake lever for full stop at the top was like stamping down the new ”re-definition” of heavy-hauling standards charted by the Swedish manufacturer,” said the hauler in operation, Mr. George Mezerian. A legendary masterpiece, the truck continued to excel, successfully completing missions like transporting heavy military equipment and engaging in various heavy hauling activities without any breakdowns.

It now operates with Ibrahim El Kaissi Company & Partners under the skilled guidance of Mr. Chaaban Younes.Summarizing his 45 years of trucking, Mr. Chaaban contributed to the story of his cherished truck by adding, ”while it was a dream to experience the T-144 in the mid-90s, nothing could be more satisfying than honoring my 45-year legacy of trucking with a timeless masterpiece that is still proving itself timeand time again.”
