WEI GANG, DRIVER OF POLLISUM ENGINEERING NAMED CHAMPION IN SCANIA ECOLUTION ‘A GOOD DRIVER’ COMPETITION 2024
Wei Gang from Pollisum Engineering is the Scania Ecolution ‘A Good Driver’ Champion of 2024, an award recognising the best improvement in carbon reduction achieved by drivers. He achieved a 17 percent improvement in carbon reduction compared to the previous year and has been driving with Pollisum for about 11 years. This marks the second consecutive year a Pollisum Engineering driver has won the title, having also secured it in 2023.
“Saving fuel is easy when you avoid the habit of constantly harsh braking during your journey. I’m honoured to receive the title this year, as I’ve consistently made it a priority to practise safe and fuel-efficient driving habits every time I’m on the road. It’s also great to know that my efforts have contributed to lowering the company’s fuel consumption and reducing overall CO2 emissions,” shared Wei Gang.
Both the Scania Ecolution ‘A Good Company’ and ‘A Good Driver’ competition is open to companies under the Scania Ecolution partnership, where Scania and a participating company would work together towards optimising fuel efficiency in the fleet. Both parties would agree on a set of fuel- and carbon-reduction targets and achieve these by utilising Scania’s sustainable transport solutions and Scania Digital Services, which are designed to optimise each vehicle.
Within Scania Digital Services, Scania Fleet Management System Control Package provides data to fleet managers which can be accessed via the My Scania portal and Scania Fleet app. Fleet managers can monitor the fuel efficiency and carbon reduction performance of each vehicle and its assigned driver, supporting their operational decisions and identifying potential improvements.
To support the drivers, the Scania Driver app helps drivers by monitoring their performance and offering actionable driving tips to reduce fuel consumption and reduce CO₂ emissions. More importantly, it provides access to Scania ProDriver, a digital coaching service that promotes fuel-efficient and safe driving habits, empowering drivers to maximise vehicle performance while minimising environmental impact.
“I’m very proud of our drivers for winning the Scania Ecolution ‘A Good Driver’ competition for the second year in a row,” said Ang Ka San, Managing Director of Pollisum Engineering. “We recognise the significant impact that good driving habits have on our operations, and this continued recognition from Scania will further motivate our drivers to keep improving and bring us closer to achieving our long-term sustainability goals.”
The judging was based on the percentage improvement in carbon reduction for the qualifying period of 1 January to 31 December 2024, when compared to the same period the year before. ‘A Good Driver’ competition looked for the best performing individual driver, while ‘A Good Company’ competition identified the company with the best improvement across its entire fleet.
The 1st and 2nd Runner up winners for ‘A Good Driver’ competition are Wu YongPeng of A.P. Moller - Maersk with 5 percent improvement in carbon reduction and Zhu TianSheng of Wendy Transport Enterprise Co with 3 percent improvement in carbon reduction, respectively.
“Congratulations to all winners of this year’s ‘A Good Driver’ competition,” said Oscar Wyckman, Country Manager of Scania Singapore. We look forward to building more Scania Ecolution partnerships, as we believe that sustainability and profitability can go hand in hand, especially in supporting companies on their journey towards achieving ESG goals.”
