KKKL Travel & Tours Takes Delivery of Two New Scania New Bus Generation Coaches to Keep Improving Sustainability

Scania Singapore today handed over two Scania New Bus Generation coaches to KKKL Travel & Tours. Mr Yee Hon Ve, Executive Director of KKKL Travel & Tours, officially received the keys to the new coaches from Mr Oscar Wyckman, Country Manager of Scania Singapore, at the company’s group headquarters in Batu Pahat, Johor, Malaysia.

“With the Scania New Bus Generation, we are making coach travel even more sustainable with further fuel savings and carbon emission reductions, and at the same time, delivering superb comfort and safety to passengers and drivers,” said Mr Yee.

The New Bus Generation, which was introduced in Singapore early this year, boasts 6% more fuel savings over its previous generation for business profitability, and reduced carbon emissions for environmental sustainability.

“Scania continues to lead in driving the shift towards a sustainable transport system,” said Mr Wyckman. “KKKL Travel & Tours’ continued partnership with us is a testament of this leadership in providing the best in safety, fuel-efficiency and environmental friendliness.”

The single-decker Scania K410CB4X2NB New Bus Generation coaches for KKKL Travel & Tours, each built with 27 ‘super VIP’ seats, will offer greater passenger comfort from the improved suspension and the new, more efficient gearbox capable of faster and smoother transmission.

Safety is enhanced through the reinforced chassis construction along with standard safety features such as the Electronic Braking System (EBS) with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Traction Control. Driver ergonomics, reachability and visibility are further improved for driver comfort and safety.

“Scania’s emphasis on innovation, for profitability and sustainability, has given us unmatched cost efficiency and fuel savings to serve us well for many years,” said Mr Yee. “Its innovation focus continues to resonate with our business goals, especially with the Scania New Bus Generation, where we seek to further reduce emissions in our operations.”

The group plans to keep improving the sustainability of its fleets in Singapore and Malaysia, investing in the latest and most innovative Scania coaches as they become available in both countries. Over the longer term, the group will consider hybrid and electric models.

KKKL Travel & Tours has also signed five-year Repair and Maintenance contracts for the new coaches to assure the best vehicle performance and minimise vehicle downtime. In addition, their latest purchase is supported with Scania Financial Services to ensure predictable costs and manageable risks over the life cycle of the coaches.

With the purchase of the new coaches, KKKL Travel & Tours will automatically earn 9,300 Scania For Good Loyalty Points, which can be redeemed for Scania parts and services to further enhance their business sustainability.

KKKL Travel and Tours, which was established in Singapore in 2013, is a subsidiary of the KKKL Express Malaysia group. With the latest acquisition, the group is continuing its strategy of operating Scania fleets, now comprising seven coaches in Singapore and 64 coaches in Malaysia.

In Singapore, KKKL Travel & Tours offers coach express services, inbound and outbound chartering, travel packages, and customised MICE events to Malaysia. The new coaches will be used for tour packages to popular destinations such as Kuala Lumpur and Genting Highlands.
