1st December 2023

  • Scott picked up the award at Transport News Scottish Rewards ceremony on 1 December
  • He started at Scania UK as a technician, and has developed into an invaluable member mentoring his team to be the best they can be
  • He follows in the footsteps of fellow Scania UK technicians Steven Clark and Craig Moore, who claimed the prize in 2022 and 2023 respectively

Glasgow, UK, 1 December 2023: Scania UK is proud to announce that Glasgow-based Day Shift Supervisor Scott McLintock has been named 2024 Scottish irtec Technician of the Year.

He was announced the winner at the Scottish Transport News Rewards awards ceremony, where he collected his prize among colleagues, customers and his peers from across Scotland.

Scott said: “I can’t believe I’ve been named Scottish irtec Technician of the Year – it means so much to be recognised.

“For me, there’s only one thing that matters - my team’s progression. I love seeing the differences in people as they progress. Mentoring is my biggest passion. I love it – it’s the best part of the job when I see people progressing and learning how to do the job by themselves.”

Having started his career as an apprentice, Scott’s journey has been one defined by hard work and a determination to be the best he can be. Once he arrived at Scania, he was keen to help and upskill other technicians and apprentices to the best they can.

Paul Smith, Dealer Director for Scania Scotland, said: “The team is incredibly proud of Scott. He is a real team player. He will help and teach anybody how to do something.

“His ability to mentor and help technicians with a variety of experience improve and get better is priceless. He is undoubtedly a shining example of the talent we have throughout the Scania UK network.”

Having joined Scania after 14 years working for a transport company, Scott was keen to progress his career. It was here he developed his skills to mentor others and discovered a real love and passion for not just fixing heavy machinery but also passing that knowledge onto others, in particular, the next generation.

Such is the character of Scott; he imbues the values of Scania through his actions. For him, success is only achieved if the people around him are happy and feel they are succeeding.

Lindsey Duncan, Branch Manager at Scania Glasgow, said: “Scott is an exceptional and talented technician and mentor. Nothing phases him and he does whatever it takes to see the job through with the customer constantly on his mind.

“His determination, team spirit, and passion are inspirational.”

Scott follows in the footsteps of fellow technicians Craig Moore and Steven Clark, who claimed the accolade in 2022 and 2023.
