Winter Safety

Our latest safety brochure is your go-to guide for staying safe and efficient throughout the winter months.

Safety Changes

This year, our industry is implementing revised safety regulations designed to enhance road safety, improve driver welfare, and ensure environmental compliance. Stay informed about these changes to ensure smooth operations and continued compliance.

Tachograph Legislation

A new version of the smart tachograph has been mandated by the UK and the EU for all commercial heavy-duty vehicles, registered from the 21st August 2023. All vehicles registered before 21 August 2023 will need a SMT2 if you engage in cross-border traffic.

Direct Vision Standard

Direct Vision Standard requirements in London are changing. To improve the safety of all road users, heavy goods vehicles over 12 tonnes will need to have a three- star rating or fit the Progressive Safe System (PSS) to operate in Greater London, from 28 October 2024.

Software Updates

If a dashboard warning light illuminates, get it checked immediately. It could indicate a critical software update or safety issue. Ignoring it may lead to a breakdown. Contact your local branch to investigate and resolve the problem.

Avoid breakdowns with Scania Procare. ProCare is designed to proactively recommend replacing specific components before they reach the end of their lifespan, preventing unexpected breakdowns or urgent service requirements, while also automating the replacement process.

Procare

ProCare reduces the risk of unplanned stops for your truck. Analytics intelligence predict future mechanical issues and solves them before they happen.

Environmental Safety

Truck emissions include pollutants such as nitrogen oxides (NOx), particulate matter (PM) and carbon dioxide (CO2) so it is very important to make sure you keep everything in good working order.

Vehicle Performance

You can report on your environmental impact with Scania Connected

Services. With our Vehicle Performance package you can report on CO2, NOx, HC, CO & PM.

Renewable Fuels

Turning to biogas can achieve significant CO2 reductions. Biomethane-based solutions are readily available via rapidly growing fuel-station networks and the CO2 emissions can be reduced by up to 90% from a well-to-wheel perspective.

Parts Maintenance

Certain components in your truck, such as NOx sensors and filters, are specifically engineered to regulate emissions. Maintaining these components and ensuring they function properly is crucial for effective emission control.
