The Ultimate Birthday Treat

11 year old Cameron’s biggest birthday wish was to be able to get up close and personal with his favourite thing in the world – Scania trucks.

Simon Waterfall, Cameron’s father, got in touch with Wellingborough General Manager, Matthew Lee, in the hope there would be a chance to bring Cameron along to the depot to see what’s on the inside of a Scania and find out what goes on when they aren’t on the road.

With a 14 bay workshop, and around 70 employees on site, our Wellingborough depot was the perfect place to give Cameron a real insight into his favourite vehicles and ask all of the questions he had from years of spotting them on the roads. And how could we say no to somebody with a real passion for the industry, something we love to see at such a young age!

“Even when he was three he was talking about trucks,” explained Simon, “and to this day he still loves them, he spots them on the road and starts telling us about what the model is"

Fanatical about Scania since he can remember, Cameron was certainly in his element at TruckEast. “Even when he was three he was talking about trucks,” explained Simon, “and to this day he still loves them, he spots them on the road and starts telling us about what the model is,” he continues. During his tour of the facilities with Master Technician Steve White, they discussed different models, engines and even explored some of the chassis around the yard. It was first time he was able to see and learn about P cab XT’s complete with tipper bodies and fully bodied fire engines. Not forgetting his all time favourite , the R cab topline.

The tour of the parts stores really had him in awe; he walked around mentally logging the parts he would need to build his own truck – a hope for one day in the future. Although, Mum Michelle seemed a little worried about where to park her car if a truck was to be built on the driveway!

Cameron often visits shows with his parents, most recently he was busy Scania spotting at Truckfest Peterborough. But this visit offered something special, the real icing on the cake; he was given a ride around the site in a top of the range S cab highline . He really couldn’t believe his luck!

We ended the visit by presenting Cameron with a goody bag filled with Scania treats, the perfect end to his dream afternoon.
