TruckEast Golf Day raises funds for SENSE

Transport operators from across the East Midlands and East Anglia joined local Scania dealer TruckEast, for their 2018 Golf Day.

A combination of action packed golfing and exciting fundraising meant this year’s event at the Hallmark Hotel, Cambridge, was a huge success and thoroughly enjoyed by all that attended.

TruckEast took the opportunity of the Golf Day to raise money for SENSE, a national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind. They support both families and individuals struggling with sensory difficulties; an experience that can bring a sense of alienation and isolation to those that suffer. As part of the fundraising activities, TruckEast organised a ‘Lose your Senses’ putting challenge throughout lunchtime, designed to give players a small glimpse into the world of deafblind individuals. Golfers were blindfolded and given a set of ear defenders to wear before being asked to attempt a chip in the bucket.

Harley Coulson, TruckEast Sales Director, comments, “Not only was it truly a challenge for our golfers, but it enabled us to raise awareness on a different level for the worthy cause that SENSE supports. So we wanted to say a big thank you to all that took part.”

Following on from the day’s relaxed atmosphere, the evening event entailed a drinks reception accompanied by a three course meal, presentation of the golfing awards and charity raffle. Over the course of the event, TruckEast and its customers were able to raise in excess of £2,000 for SENSE. These funds will enable SENSE to make a genuine difference, allowing individuals to live as independently as possible and enjoy the little things that can often be taken for granted.
