Long Serving P-Series Proves its Worth
With reliability a key factor for their operation, Suffolk based Quivogne have run the same Scania P-series for over 20 years.
One of the oldest vehicles on a service contract at our Stowmarket depot belongs to Tony Clowes, owner of Quivogne UK. The truck has been maintained by the depot since Tony bought it in 1998, clocking up over 669,000 kilometres in its lifetime so far, in which the long serving P-series has always been dependable.
Established in 1994, family run Quivogne import a wide range of agricultural equipment. With regular long haul trips to France to collect the specialist machinery, as well as deliveries to small farms in the UK, they have only ever used tried and tested Scania.
The P124 was registered in March 1998 and is fitted with a Cormach crane to load and unload heavy machinery. For Tony, the P-series was the perfect choice, “the low cab is great to get the crane over, especially when we are showcasing products at an exhibition” he says. “We can often be demonstrating on farms that are off-road or down tight lanes, so we needed something small and highly manoeuvrable.”
The main reason why Tony hasn’t replaced the vehicle is because it has never let him down, something essential to the farming industry. “I could leave it standing in the yard for a month and if I needed to get to France, I would just jump in it and go” he explains. He has always maintained the vehicle at TruckEast Stowmarket for the same reason – reliability. “The depot know me well, they know how I work and I know I’ll always receive a service that is second to none.”
