Overview

We have a vacancy for a Sales Director, this role is responsible for the strategic management of the Sales activity within the Business, including developing and implementing sales plans, establishing, and meeting sales targets, leading and controlling teams, in order to achieve business objectives. They are responsible for the promotion and selling of new Scania vehicles as well as services within the Business, developing the sales network and upholding a positive brand image.

essential duties and job responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day to day activity of the overall Sales department within the Business,
  • Ensuring the efficient allocation of tasks and resources to achieve the business objectives,
  • Responsible for Business Plan development and implementation for the overall Sales department within the Business Unit, focussing on both the short- and long-term Sales plans, setting sales forecasts, objectives and targets,
  • Identify new business opportunities in the Sales area, building them into a Business Plan,
  • Ensure the Sales department develops and promotes Scania products and services to new and existing customers working in accordance with agreed sales and market development strategies, meeting sales volumes and targets,
  • Responsible for ensuring the Business achieves the sales forecasts, objectives and targets,
  • Collect sales data, comparing results achieved to forecasts, analysing differences and determining action plans for sales strategies when required,
  • As part of the senior management team, ensure that relevant financial and statistical reports are compiled, analysed and presented to senior management, determining what further    actions are required for the business,
  • Represent the Sales area in the senior management team, actively participating and contributing to general business improvements,
  • Continuously monitor market and competitor activity, trends and demands, analysing the impact on the company and taking appropriate action when necessary,
  • Completing tender processes for potential new business,
  • Ensure the Sales department builds and develops customer relationships within the Business, acting as a communication channel between the customer and company through regular customer contact, providing relevant updates on the full range of Scania products and services,
  • Lead and motivate the Sales department staff, working with them to improve performance and ensure a profitable business,
  • Maintain compliance in all areas of Health and Safety in the workplace,
  • Ensure Company policies and procedures are adhered,
  • Manage personnel requirements within the Sales department, including:
    • recruitment 
    • on-going development and training for employees to meet the demands of the   business
    • - conducting performance assessments and  appraisals on a regular basis,
  • Work in cooperation with other departments to achieve business objectives, ensuring that there is open and effective communication,
  • Support and promote a safe and healthy work  environment, maintaining safe work practices at all times,
  • Comply with Company policies and procedures, including the completion of documents and records,
  • Promote and work with the Scania Dealer Operating Standards (DOS) to ensure uniform quality standards in all areas of the business,
  • Continually monitor the business performance within the DTA (Dealer Team Awards) analysing the impact on the business and taking appropriate action where necessary,
  • Ensure the Scania CRM (Customer Relationship Management) is kept up to date with accurate information on customer contacts, sales and opportunities,
  • Demonstrate vehicles by using demonstration vehicles, catalogues, technical specifications, illustrations, systems and software provided by the factory,
  • Keep updated in relation to changes in vehicles, technical assistance or new models introduced,
  • Where appropriate, build and develop relationships with suppliers to assist in the packaging of a complete solution for the customer,
  • Assist in the delivery of vehicles according to Scania processes and procedures, following the customer  order and invoicing through to quality vehicle handover to customers.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Higher education in sales discipline
  • Extensive sales and managerial experience   preferably in the heavy vehicle or related industry 
  • Effective sales, negotiating and influencing skills
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Detail-orientated
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Knowledge of Scania products and the truck  industry
  • Ability to work under pressure and be solution-driven
