Soldiers off the Street
Ellesmere Port Scania had pleasure in supplying an escort vehicle and their Service Manager, Richard Doherty to a very worthwhile charity called "Soldiers off the Street".
They are a group of Fuel Tanker Drivers who work from Stanlow. Many of them are ex-Forces so “Soldiers off the Street” is a charity close to their hearts. It can be a slippery slope for Service leavers, many of whom suffer from physical and mental problems from their service to our country. Although these issues are becoming more publicised, there is still little help for these guys. If we can play a small part in even just rehoming one veteran then it would be great!
The aim was to train to a level where on the day of the event they could complete an 80-mile cycle in the North West of England. It was a tough day but a good laugh, mostly. They wanted to thank Andy Mottershead for doing the route planning & pace setting. They did themselves proud. They raised an amazing amount of money which is going to be doubled by #Hoyer so pretty sure once all cash donations are in, they will smash £3000 which will hopefully play a part in helping a Veteran back on their feet.
