Dale Transport

 “I’m a Scania man through and through, and have been for over 20 years this year. I have always stayed with Scania Financial Services when I need finance. This time I’ve used Flexi-Buy for a new truck and taken out Scania GAP insurance.

So says Michael Dale, owner of Dale Transport based at Malton in North Yorkshire, after buying a new Scania S650 6x2/2 artic on Flexi-Buy through Scania North.

Throughout his two decades in long distance haulage, mainly to building sites, Michael has had a succession of Scanias, after starting with a E-reg Scania 112 that he had painted with red chassis and blue Scania stripes.

That went as the business progressed, and six years ago Michael expanded from owner-driver to take on other drivers and expand to a fleet or four or five Scanias.

“I buy outright when I can but, while the banks are always offering deals on finance, if I need it I always stick with Scania Finance because I know precisely where I am with them.”

He adds: “The trucks are a good product with such reliability,” and he enjoys a good relationship with Scania North in Thirsk. “Last year I went on a factory visit with the guys from Scania North for the launch of the XT,” he recalled.

But he doesn’t just buy new and that first Scania 112 wasn’t forgotten, even if that particular truck seems to have been exported.

So when Michael spotted a D-reg perfect replica on a used truck site, same colours and identical down to the blue interior, he couldn’t resist it.

“I bought it because it was there and it cost three times what I got for mine, but it was restored ten years ago, used for shows and runs fine and I might use it to take trailers to MoTs.

“Dad always drove wagons, and when I drive this one it takes me back 20 years,” he laughs.
