Business Development Manager

Business area: Broker and Insurance
Location: Milton Keynes
Reporting to: Sales & Marketing Director
Permanent | Full-time


We are looking for an individual with extensive knowledge of commercial finance solutions and experience of brokerage and introducer relationships. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing our finance and insurance product portfolio and taking our broker proposition to the next level. Working closely with your colleagues you will review and take our products to their next developmental phases and help drive their future growth which will be key to the success of this role.



  • Develop the UK broker business proposition and support the growth of sales
  • To maintain and enhance third party funder relationships working with our funders to increase service levels both internally and with customers
  • Identify and onboard third-party introducers to aid further sales volume growth
  • To work with our introducers to increase volumes by improving service and relationships
  • Manage and develop the relationships with our introducer/funding partners
  • Identify new broker partners to introduce and help support the business


  • Manage the insurance proposition working closely with our suppliers and sales team to meet targets
  • Working with the sales team maximise insurance sales including GAP, RTI & vehicle and related insurance
  • With the sales team promote the quotation and follow up of vehicle and fleet insurance leads
  • Keep up to date with insurance compliance and legal matters
  • Work closely with our insurance partners to grow sales and improve customer service including claims
  • Manage insurance training for the financial services team to meet compliance requirements
  • Actively promote the insurance proposition and report insurance results


  • Research the marketplace and identify new product opportunities that will create additional sales
  • Further develop existing products enabling us to offer innovative finance and insurance that adds value and differentiates us from the competition.
  • Make product development recommendations and future outline actions for the management team
  • Support the development of key projects as required by the business to meet growth ambitions
  • Establish processes that support new ways of funding vehicles in the future with the introduction of electrification and low carbon assets to meet the changing marketplace and customer needs
Main Duties:
  • Work closely with all key stakeholders to achieve sales development success
  • Effective communication with all stakeholders always
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation completion to meet stakeholder expectations
  • Ensure insurance meets all compliance and legal obligations at all times
  • Work with compliance and legal teams as required  
  • Where necessary negotiate the terms and conditions liaising with internal teams as required
  • Be aware of commercial operations and their requirements such as warranties, used, R&M, RV’s and more
  • Complete reports as required by the business to monitor development activities and progress
  • Any other tasks or additional projects reasonably requested
Key Competencies / Skills Required:
  • A proactive self-starter driven by the success of achieving goals set
  • Asset Finance and insurance background experience preferable
  • Understanding of brokerage business and how it functions
  • A background in a sales environment
  • Ability to communicate and interact at all levels
  • Confident and have the ability to learn quickly
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the truck industry
  • A good understanding of financial products and financial statements
