The new V8 together with the new Scania Opticruise gearbox and a rear axle gear adapted for cruising on direct drive (gear 12) can give up to six percent in fuels savings.
As an example, a 590 hp truck in long haulage operations in a hilly topography can achieve savings in this range, whereby the engine will account for two percent, the gearbox for three percent and the rear axle for one percent*.
The wide gear ratio spread makes it possible to optimise the rear axle gear for low engine rpm in cruising speed, without compromising startability. This gives a high performing powertrain for a profitable and more sustainable business.
