cameron nicol - national technical product support representative
Media Release Wednesday 29 June, 2022
cameron nicol is scania new zealand's national technical product support representative and supported the product training requirements for the first scania battery electric vehicle (bev) models when they launched in new zealand.
Cameron worked alongside technical trainers Russell Dixon and Scott Cann to help organise the product training processes and the necessary support for the BEV trucks from the moment they hit the ground in New Zealand. He worked with the companies and individuals who carried out work on the vehicles, such as bodybuilders and sign writers, to strengthen their understanding of the vehicles and the safety guidelines around working with them.
He also worked with the Scania New Zealand national parts team to ensure there was the required parts coverage for the vehicles so they would be well supported in New Zealand.
Cameron’s highlight of the project has been being able to drive the BEV vehicle. “It’s abnormally quiet when you’re used to hearing a diesel engine underneath you when you drive. It will be great once everything is complete and the truck is able to be driven fully loaded.”
Ultimately, Cameron helped guarantee everyone working with the BEV trucks in New Zealand had a good understanding of the vehicles before they arrived and before they become operational in the coming months.
Cameron will continue to be involved in on-the-ground support for any future BEVs Scania brings into New Zealand to ensure they are supported in the right areas, i.e. new bodybuilders.
