RESPONSIBLE DRIVERS SAVE LIVES
An increasing number of operators and transport buyers are demanding sobriety checks for drivers in every step of their supply chain. And rightly so, because the costs involved if something happens are absolutely deterring. Responsible drivers save lives.
Scania offers alcolock preparation ex-factory, for easy fitting of the desired type of device. An alcolock requires the driver to breathe through a mouthpiece when starting the engine. If alcohol is detected in the exhaled air, the starter will be blocked. To easily adapt to local laws and regulations, the settings are available without restriction.
ELECTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM (EBS)
Scania EBS (electronic braking system) gives you the best possible control of your braking. It provides instantaneous brake response with immediate application and release in direct proportion to pedal pressure. And because fast and simultaneous brake release helps to overcome ‘brake drag,’ it also saves fuel. Brake drag occurs when the brake release on some axles is momentarily delayed (a traditional pneumatic braking system reacts more slowly than electronic actuation).
EBS greatly enhances stability in all conditions and eliminates much of the unnecessary stress associated with emergency stops. Such an immediate, balanced and stable response is not possible with even the most sophisticated pneumatic arrangement.
ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAMME (ESP)
SUPPORTS THE DRIVER IN TRICKY SITUATIONS
Emergency situations or inappropriate speed can sometimes result in vehicle instability. This is especially hazardous for tractor-semitrailer combinations, where even momentary loss of driver control could have disastrous and very expensive consequences.
Scania ESP (electronic stability program) greatly increases driving safety by monitoring key stability parameters and automatically triggering appropriate controls. The system is available on all 4x2 tractors equipped with electronically controlled disc brakes. It is designed to work on wet or slippery roads, where under- or oversteering often occurs, and on dry roads, where the main risk is a roll-over resulting from excessive speed or adverse camber on bends.
TYRE PRESSURE MONITORING (TPM)
RIGHT TYRE PRESSURES SAVES A LOT OF FUEL
Scania TPM (tyre pressure monitoring) is a safety system that alerts the driver if the tyre pressure drops in any of the vehicle’s tyres. It continues to work while the vehicle is in motion, so you can act to prevent accidents and body damage.
Even if an individual tyre pressure is simply incorrect and in no danger of running flat, TPM will instantly alert the driver. This helps to constantly ensure optimum rolling resistance, which translates into better operating economy and reduced tyre wear. Scania TPM is available for all trucks with one driven axle.
FOR ADDED SAFETY, VISIBILITY AND CONVENIENCE
Our front-view camera automatically starts at speeds below 30 km/h, providing you with a clear, unobstructed view of your immediate surroundings. For a more complete perspective, your vehicle can also be equipped with a rear-view camera. In both cases, display monitors are located directly in front of the driver. This ensures a wider field of vision, free from rear blind spots and neck craning. Whether reversing, docking or maneuvering through tight spaces, safe handling is rarely this satisfying, or this simple.
