Each year, Truckstar Magazine tests trucks in a particular segment and for 2016, city distribution was selected. Over three days, independent professional test drivers scrutinised each and every detail. The trucks were driven on a varied route of city and national roads to simulate actual working conditions.
The line-up consisted of Scania P 250, Volvo FE 250 hp, MAN TGM 250 hp, Renault D-Wide 280 hp, DAF LF 250 hp, Iveco EuroCargo 250 hp and the 272 hp Mercedes-Benz Antos. The trucks were evaluated for cab entry, cab interior, work space, storage room, operations, driving characteristics, maneuverability, visibility and exterior.
Scania received high scores in operations and excelled in exterior image as well as in visibility, driving characteristics and maneuverability. In the overall assessment, Scania P 250 edged ahead of Mercedes Antos with a score of 76.7 percent. Volvo FE was rated third with MAN TGM in the fourth spot.
Scania was consequently announced as Truck van het Jaar 2016, Truck of the Year 2016.
