Celebrating 5 years

Scania East Africa is proud to be celebrating 5 years as a fully-fledged and wholly owned regional distributor under Scania CV AB (Scania Group).

Our roots in the region go as far back as 1973 when the first assembly plant was installed and was in full operation in Tabora, Tanzania. Since then, Scania has grown in leaps and bounds with our operations extending to the rest of the East Africa region. We have the largest service network in the region serving customers in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.

As a world leading provider of transport solutions, we are honored to be offering our customers premium buses, coaches, trucks of all applications and industrial engines including complete Gensets, that will contribute to the success of their businesses.

Driving The Shift Towards A Sustainable Transport System

Sustainable transport is all about moving people and goods while contributing to economic and social development without jeopardising human health and safety or endangering the environment. It is about “Doing the right things”, and we are designing solutions aimed at creating value for all our stakeholders.

The transport industry is one of the major contributors of carbon emissions and we recognize the critical role our industry has to play in solving the environmental degradation and air quality challenges that we are currently facing.

As a company, we are aiming at becoming a leader in sustainable transport by advocating for the use of cleaner fuels, introduction of proper legislation to govern and control emissions and reduction in the importation of vehicles with Euro 0 to Euro 3 engines.

Road safety is also key on our agenda by focusing on the driver who plays a critical role on our roads and in the success of the transport business. We offer personalized world-class driver training and coaching for our customers’ drivers. Our training ensures that our customers’ drivers are equipped with the knowledge and expertise needed for them to improve their driving habits because a skilled driver contributes to increased road safety and better fuel economy.

In 5 years, we have expanded across the country by opening branches in Mombasa, Nakuru and Eldoret with a parts outlet soon to be opened in Mlolongo, to serve our customers better. Towards the end of 2019 we shall be moving our Mombasa branch to a new and improved premise that will be easily accessible for our customers for service and maintenance of their vehicles.

As part of our commitment to the region, we are investing in a new KES.1 billion state of the art facility that will include a workshop, spare parts and service centre at Mlolongo along Mombasa road. This new facility will also incorporate green technology in line with our commitment to sustainability as part of our business practice.

We thank you for your continued support these last 5 years.
