Scania New Truck Generation - Leading the future of sustainable transport
On the 11th of May, Scania launched its New Truck Generation at Hong Kong AsiaWorld Expo to 500 customers, partners and media. This project is the largest investment in the company’s history of 127 years and undoubtedly sets a new standard for truck industry. Scania has spent ten years developing the New Truck Generation and invested a total of 18 billion Hong Kong dollars. It has been tested over a distance of 12.5 million km, which is equivalent to circumnavigating the earth 300 times, to provide the safest, best fuel efficiency and most advanced truck range in the industry.
Full range of New Truck Generation was introduced, including Long Haulage, Construction, and Urban applications. They were unveiled at the launch by Mr. Claes Erixon, Executive Vice President, Head of Research and Development of Scania Group; Mr. Carl-Fredrik Zachrisson, Managing Director of Scania Hong Kong; and Mr. Andy Ling, Sales Director of Scania Hong Kong.
Scania has always focused on “fuel efficiency”, “alternative fuels and electrification”, and “smart and safe transport” as its three major pillars in developing sustainable transport. During the launch, Mr. Erixon shared the examples of how Scania has been committed to sustainable transport development in the transport industry globally. Scania now owns over 320,000 connected vehicles all over the world, and it is the best demonstration of how Scania utilizes the real-time vehicle data to facilitate fleet management and smart transport.
Moreover, Scania has also tested autonomous vehicles, platooning and electrified highways in Sweden, and has provided the broadest solutions for alternative fuels in the market. All in all, it showcases Scania is truly driving the shift towards sustainable transport system. By introducing the New Truck Generation, Scania aims to offer the trucks with best operating economy in the industry for our customers and provide our society with the most extensive sustainable transport solutions.
