Now it’s time to crown the best young European truck driver. The winner will drive home in a brand new Scania R-series truck, valued at 100,000 euro.

24 finalists will compete for the title
More than 17,000 contestants have entered this year’s European competition. Following months of regional and national qualification competitions, 24 finalists will compete against each other for the Young European Truck Driver Award 2012.

Experience the exciting competitions as drivers are put to the test in reversing and manoeuvring trucks in tight and tricky challenges. Gates will open at 11.00 when the line up of the 18 drivers that remain in competition following Friday’s qualification round start their engines. In heat after heat, drivers will be eliminated until the three best drivers qualify for the final at 15.00. The entire competition will be webcasted live at scania.com/YETD.
Open house at Scania
On Saturday, Scania also opens its Chassis production to visitors 11.00–14.00 (last entry at 13.30). Come and see how the world’s best trucks and buses are assembled. Guides are on hand to explain the many steps from the initial frames with the gradual assembly of engines, gearbox, cab and all the features that add up to a complete customer vehicle.
Fun for everyone
There will activities for visitors of all ages. Scania will provide information on, or example, its driver training, technical schools and employer branding. The Swedish Police and Rescue Services will be on hand to explain more about their operations. The customisation legend Svempa will show a few of his spectacular trucks. Test drive remote controlled model trucks and soapbox cars. The junior circus troupe Ung Cirkör will perform and give young spectators a chance to try circus acts.

Welcome to Scania in Södertälje. Free buses to the festival area will operate from the Södertälje Syd railway station at Sydgatan where parking is also available.
