XLR8 is a network with the aim to be an eye-opener to the benefits of diversity. Another aim is to develop career opportunities and one example of this is the mentoring programmes.
The XLR8-network at Scania has grown extensively. Initially the focus was within the Sales & Marketing organisation, now XLR8-branches can be found in Research & Development, Purchasing, as well as in Production & Logistics.
All the branches have their own mentoring programmes. “We share the set-up, since we have a great toolbox that everyone can pick and choose from,” says Vickie Persson, chairperson for XLR8 at Sales & Marketing, and Finance & Business Control.
Diverse perspectives can help you succeed
Daniele Petrili is one of the participants in this round of the mentoring programme. “I think it’s an important step for your career to have good mentors. Their diverse perspectives can help you to succeed. Having this mentorship programme impacts me in a positive way since I look at my career in a different way now.”
“I really recommend the mentoring programme! It’s a good opportunity to start thinking more about your career.”
Once the programme is finished, it’s up to the mentor and mentee to decide if they’d like to continue to meet. “For me, it was important to understand how things work at Scania, and also develop relationships cross-functionally. Especially since my previous experience was from outside the company. It’s such a great initiative.”
