Frida found her way to Scania trough Scania Student Intro

It was the opportunity to work within her field of specialisation that attracted Frida Niemi to Scania. While studying for her MSc in Mechanical Engineering at Luleå University of Technology, she was looking for a summer job and thesis project.

“I heard about the Scania Student Intro programme (SSI) and became curious about the company. I wanted to get to know Scania and explore career possibilities and decided to apply,” she says.

Development Engineer at R&D

The programme consists of weekend visits and one-day events filled with cases, seminars and team building. SSI also provides the participants with a summer job and thesis project, carried out within Research & Development, Sales & Marketing or IT. “It is a huge advantage to have a summer job and also the possibility to tailor your thesis project within your field,” says Frida.

She also believes it is a great way to get a head-start to a career in tech at a global company. “When applying for a job you have a better knowledge of which departments there are, and what you want to work with and focus on.”

Today, Frida works as a Development Engineer at R&D, at the same department where she had her summer job. The team works with design and technical solutions for cable harnesses, air pipes and E-installation within cab development. “I love to meet new people and the variety of doing new things every day. With constant new challenges, I never stop learning. Scania is a great company to work at where I’m continuing to develop as an engineer and have fun at the same time.”
