Digital transformation is affecting all parts of society and changing companies and organisations. At Scania, we see the opportunities and we are accelerating our work to take advantage of the digital landscape and all it can offer us.

Along with urbanisation and sustainability, digitalisation is one of the main global trends that impact society and the transport industry. Digitalisation is having a big impact on the ecosystem of sustainable transportation, altering business models within the transport sector as products, production processes and supply chains become more interconnected while emerging technologies drive innovation, creating new risks and opportunities.

At Scania, we apply digital technology to improve our core processes and create new business opportunities. This creates business value for all of Scania’s corporate targets, from people and planet, through customers and partners to our bottom lines of profitability and future growth.

430,000 connected vehicles, and counting...

Digitalisation enables the efficient and safe transport of goods and people, through the coordination and control of transport movements. Connected and autonomous vehicles are becoming crucial for increasing efficiency in transport and in value chains. Using real-time data from over 430,000 connected vehicles, Scania has developed services that lower fuel consumption and maximise vehicle uptime, with contracts customised for each truck based on real-time user data. The result is fewer and usually shorter stops, less waste from unnecessary oil changes and up to two days’ fewer standstills per vehicle a year.

In 2017, we established the Scania Digital Office, to advance the digitalisation process at Scania. We have also made digitalisation one of the focus areas in Scania’s 2025 Strategy. Today, there are digital officers in most of Scania’s departments, accelerating the digitalisation of the company.
