Gaming and trucking fans are eagerly looking forward to the release of the first Scania Truck Driving Simulator, which includes actual challenges from the Young European Truck Driver Competition.
The game pushes driving skills the limit in a series of difficult challenges that test manoeuvrability, speed and safety levels. Ten challenges range from navigating narrow roads to battling against a dangerous flood. Gamers will also be able to visit Scania’s DemoCentre to test drive trucks.
Scania has awarded the Czech computer games publisher SCS Software the licensing rights for the simulation game. “We’re very pleased with the results and hope many Scania fans – with and without driving licenses for heavy vehicles – will experience the thrill of manoeuvring trucks in challenging situations,” says Stefan Lindblom, Vice President, Brand & Marketing Communications.
Scania Truck Driving Simulator is scheduled for release in Czech, English, French, German, Hungarian, Polish and Russian language versions as well as a version for the Nordic countries. A Portuguese version for Brazil is also being considered. “The game feels and looks amazing and we are thrilled to release it. We are convinced that the game will be a success and have already received many pre-orders,” says Johan Haeggström at the Nordic distributor Wendros.
Some of Europe’s most skilled drivers have had the opportunity to test the game. During the qualifications for the Polish regional finals in the Young European Truck Driver Competition, participants tried a beta version and many were enthusiastic. Having played the game, Poland’s 2010 finalist Artur Sumbar says that it is the best simulator he has tried and that “it makes you feel like a real truck driver.”
