Since 2015, Scania has had a partnership with Dorna Sports, the organisation that runs the MotoGP – the world championship series of motorcycle racing. The MotoGP’s 18-round season visits a total of 15 countries on four continents from January to November. The main reason for our partnership is to help Dorna and the MotoGP transport all the equipment it uses to set up the races. Scania’s helps Dorna to do this more easily and sustainably when the MotoGP is travelling in Europe.
The main part of the sponsorship agreement sees Scania provide 14 tractor units plus our full range of ecolution services. At the outset, Scania and a fuel partner carried out an analysis of Dorna’s needs, to plan the routes and ensure could transport the equipment using 100% HVO fuel. In doing so, we are helping MotoGP to make a substantial reduction of its CO2 emissions.
In addition to the transport solution, Scania has also obtained traditional sponsorship rights for brand exposure, hospitality and meet-and-greet events. Both Scania and Dorna also communicate the results of CO2 reduction through our websites, social media, PR activities and through Scania’s sales force.
