2008: World’s first ethanol truck

After nearly 20 years as a supplier of ethanol buses, Scania broadens its range of ethanol-powered vehicles for urban traffic with the world’s first ethanol truck, offering urban operators the opportunity to take a big step towards sustainable transport. Dutch logistics company Rotra, logistics giant Schenker and Ragn-Sells, a Swedish-based resource and waste management company, are participating in the final trials. “City buses were the start, and urban trucks are the next step,” says Björn Westman, head of Engine Development at Scania.
