1940: New, visionary Managing Director

Carl-Berthel Nathhorst, a 32-year old graduate engineer, becomes new Managing Director, having been recruited to Scania-Vabis by the Chairman of the Board and major shareholder Marcus Wallenberg Jr. Nathhorst perfectly fits Wallenberg’s search for a managing director who can transform the craftsmanship-oriented company into an efficient export enterprise. With the support of the owners, Nathhorst begins to realise his vision of systematising and simplifying, trimming costs and expanding the company’s operations.
