Disc brakes

Disc brakes are responsive and lightweight and the natural choice for most on-road applications and offers shorter stopping distances. Compared to drum brakes, disc brakes are more stable and offer better response and fade resistance in an emergency.The brake discs are vented, which lowers the working temperature of the tyres and wheels. This has a positive effect on the service life of the tyre and reduces the risk of separation between the tyre carcass and the tread.

EBS, Electronic Brake System

Immediate response and maximum stability are key features of Scania's electronic braking system. It provides instantaneous brake response with immediate application and release in direct proportion to pedal pressure.EBS greatly enhances stability in all conditions and eliminates much of the unnecessary stress associated with emergency stops. Such an immediate, balanced and stable response is not possible with even the most sophisticated pneumatic arrangement.

Scania Opticruise

Scania Opticruise, one of the first automated gear-changing systems on the market. Scania Ecocruise, hill-hold, Scania Retarder and ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) are fully integrated functionally, if fitted.

Scania Retarder

The Scania Retarder interacts with the cruise control, exhaust brake and wheelbrakes to provide total downhill speed control at the touch of a button or, with our automatic retarder option, a dab on the brake pedal. Designed with two performance steps, the cruise control and the Scania Retarder provide you with automatic speed control up and down the hills. In addition, one of the Scania Retarder models is available in a version with automatic freewheeling mode when not active. This results in reduced drag losses and additional fuel savings.

Scania Tyre pressure monitoring

Ensuring the right tyre pressures saves a lot of fuel. The safety system alerts the driver if it detects a pressure drop in any of the vehicle’s tyres. It continues to work while the vehicle is in motion, so you can act to prevent accidents and body damage.TPM will instantly alert the driver even when there's only a single, individual incorrect tyre pressure detected with no danger of running flat. This helps to ensure constant optimum rolling resistance, which translates into better operating economy and reduced tyre wear. Scania TPM is available for all vehicles with one driven axle.
