The Green Truck Award
The environmental ranking is determined by the German trade magazines Trucker and Verkehrsrundschau.
How is the Green truck Award determined?
We explain what is being tested at the Green Truck and how the winner is determined.
“The environmental label Green Truck is a point of reference for fleet managers in industry, trade and logistics as well as truck drivers in terms of the purchase and use of environmentally friendly commercial vehicles.”
editor in chief of the magazines Verkehrsrundschau and Trucker
Sustainable for the environment
For the rating of the environmental friendliness the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of the vehicles are compared. The CO2 emissions are indicated as carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e). At the same time the environmental ranking takes into consideration well-to-wheel like it is regulated in the DIN EN 16258 regulation.
Highest number of participants in 2019
The number of participants has never been higher. The environmental award yearly recognizes the most environmental friendly 4x2 tractor unit of the previous year. All seven big truck manufacturers participated in the comparison, some with several vehicles.
A reference vehicle accompanies every ride at a 353 kilometers long, standardized test-route to compensate for weather conditions. The transport task is the same for all: every vehicle is equipped with a 24 tons heavy test-trailer. This is how the total weight of roughly 32 tons is created.
