Scania Newcastle to close – new dealer appointed
Scania will cease operations at its company-owned branch in Newcastle at the end of July 2020, and has appointed a nearby specialist dealership, Trucksmart, to represent Scania and to service our customers.
Our key considerations in making this difficult decision were to secure continued service excellence and customer care, as well as potential on-going employment within the network for the majority of Scania Newcastle’s knowledgeable and experienced employees.
David Body, owner and operator of Trucksmart, is very keen to welcome many of our Scania team to his business, as he clearly understands and appreciates the value and skills they will bring to the Trucksmart team. Trucksmart has just opened a brand-new facility, well-suited to the needs and expectations of Scania service customers, located within 1 km of Scania Newcastle’s premises. Trucksmart is an experienced, well-known and highly regarded service agent in the region, with a long history of servicing and repairing premium European truck brands.
Scania Australia will now focus its attention on its eight capital city company-owned branches and is in the process of establishing an additional branch at Eastern Creek, Sydney, which we anticipate opening for business in 2021.
With the significant growth of new vehicle sales and the consequential rise in contract maintenance agreements, our company-owned workshops will continue to operate at a high level of efficiency.
Please join me in thanking the Newcastle team for their hard work and commitment and we wish them all the best of luck as their new journey begins.
