Scania previews first Euro 6 V8s at Brisbane Show
Scania is launching its flagship V8 range with Euro 6 emission compliance at the 2015 Brisbane Truck Show from 14th -17th May.
Heading the line-up are two V8 models; the company’s flagship R 730 V8 prime mover with Euro 6 compliance and a B-double specification R 580 V8. These are flanked by a brace of 6-cylinder Euro 6 compliant models; a G 490 and a P 450.
Scania is leading the rollout of Euro 6 compliant vehicles in Australia with a fleet of 77 buses nearing the completion of their delivery programme to ACTION in Canberra, while a fleet of P 450 prime movers has been in service with TNT Australia since late 2014.
All the vehicles on the Scania stand at the Brisbane Show will be Euro 6 compliant, underlining the breadth of the company’s low emission offerings to the Australian market.
The Scania display kicks off with the intra-state distribution-oriented P 450, accompanied by the more powerful line-haul G 490. Like the R 580 V8 and R 730 V8 Euro 6 flagships, the P and G-series trucks are finished in the Scania Euro 6 signature colour of Eucalyptus green.
The new R 580 V8 engine delivers almost the same torque as the Euro 5 R 620 V8 engine, at 2950 Nm.
“There has been strong interest from customers and prospective customers in the Scania Euro 6 solution given its environmental benefits, and potential fuel efficiency improvements,” says Ron Szulc, Scania Brand and Communications Manager.
“The Scania Euro 6 solution can enhance and augment a customers’ existing carbon footprint reduction strategies.”
Scania will also place strong emphasis on its driver training and coaching programmes at the Show, along with the new Scania On-Board and Scania Optimise fleet monitoring and efficiency enhancement systems. Scania will also continue to articulate its total cost of ownership reduction programmes via the Scania Total Transport Solution concept.
Scania’s suitability for the waste, logging and fuel transport industries will also come to prominence.
“Our Show focus will be on our leadership in technology, environmental protection, CO2 and fuel reduction, and improved sustainable operator profitability,” Ron says.
“We will be explaining the positives of adopting Euro 6. Customers who make the switch are future-proofing their business.
“Our Peak Efficiency Programme driver trainers spent quality time with more than 750 drivers during 2014, helping them to understand how to get the most efficient result from driving a Scania, and our trainers will be on the show stand to continue to promote this vital message,” Ron says.
“We want visitors to the Scania stand to absorb more about how we can provide them with business tools that deliver greater fleet efficiency and thus greater opportunity for improved profitability. One of the most important innovations is the Scania Optimise business tool, which will highlight areas where sizeable fleets can make significant savings, primarily in fuel use and maintenance costs.
“Visitors to the Scania stand will find plenty of ideas that can help them improve their profitability, potentially insulating their businesses from some of the prevailing economic uncertainty,” Ron says.
