Scania passes contracts milestone for Maintenance and Repair Programmes
The Scania Maintenance and Repair Programmes that offer customers complete peace-of-mind when running Scania trucks, buses and engines, have recently notched up their 1000th live contract.
The milestone contract was for a new vehicle purchased by Victorian logistics company Ryans Group.
“This is a big achievement for Scania,” says Sean Corby, National Services Sales Manager for Scania Australia.
“The high level of interest and take-up in our programmes reflect their many benefits for customers.
“The key benefits are easy to quantify; low risk, access to excellent quality service and parts at our branches and dealers, increased uptime, more efficient vehicles, low administration and a known fixed monthly cost. Aside from fuel and insurance, all running costs can be covered.
“Our Maintenance and Repair Programmes can be tailored to individual client requirements based on their use profile, their actual vehicles, or the vehicle combinations they are using.
“One of our unique selling propositions is that we have contracts that provide our customers with peace-of-mind knowing that if a Scania part fails through fair wear and tear then we’ll replace it,” Sean says.
“We offer a competitive pricing structure, no ‘caps’ on components such as clutch or brake replacements, and there are no exit fees or long notice periods so our customers are not locked in,” he says.
“The Scania Maintenance and Repair Programmes are offered in three tiered levels of cover, though each can be individually tailored to specific customer requirement if that’s what is needed.”
The cover can extend to trailers and refrigeration units, which can be serviced and looked after by the same Scania branch that services and repairs the prime mover.
“We have found a very high level of loyalty to the programmes,” Sean says.
“Once our customers realise how easy it is to run a Scania vehicle or engine using the programmes, and how little paperwork and administration is involved, and how seamless the servicing, or repairs if needed, are to effect, they stay with the programme long-term.”
Scania Maintenance and Repair Programmes have been sold to a huge variety of Scania customers, from high-profile national fleets to statewide distribution operators to smaller single vehicle owner/drivers. The entire Scania Truck Rental fleet is also on Maintenance and Repair contracts.
“Vehicles that are looked after on a Scania Maintenance and Repair Programme are likely to attract a higher residual value at disposal because the second owner has the confidence of knowing that factory-trained experts have maintained the vehicle with Genuine Scania replacement parts,” Sean says.
“Not only does this provide peace-of-mind for the second owner, but is should also mean a continuation of the high level of uptime. Enhanced productivity should lead to greater levels of profitability throughout the vehicle’s life,” he says.
The 1000th vehicle to be signed up to a Scania Maintenance and Repair Programme was displayed at the opening of the new Ryans’ depot in Derrimut, Melbourne.
