Fuel efficiency the key to Scania’s display
Scania will put the spotlight on fuel efficiency at the Perth Truck Show.
Scania has a range of solutions for truck operators keen to reduce their expenditure on fuel, and the Scania team at the show will be happy to explain how Scania can shrink operators’ costs, and make a significant contribution to the bottom line.
These solutions go far beyond the hardware, and extend to a whole-of-life cost-reduction strategy called ‘Ecolution by Scania’.
‘Ecolution by Scania’ helps operators save fuel and reduce emissions on any Scania truck, and goes far beyond merely improving drivetrain efficiency. Ecolution is a tailored suite of benefits that comprise the Peak Efficiency Programme, Optimised Vehicle Specifications, Driver Coaching and Tailored Maintenance Programmes.
Scania wants operators to be sure their drivers get the best from their new truck by delivering a four-hour familiarisation programme that explains all the on-board fuel-saving features. The Peak Efficiency Programme comes standard with all new trucks.
Scania’s experts help customers choose the correct specification for the application, which then provides maximum uptime and minimum running costs and wear and tear rates. Optimisation allows customers to select from a broad range of mechanical features as well as electronic passive and active driver safety systems.
Coaching is driver training that goes the distance. The Scania Master Driver Trainers keep in regular contact with drivers to ensure they are hitting their efficiency targets, reinforcing the lessons imparted from the beginning. Regular follow-up is the proven way to maintain fuel efficiency and reduce wear and tear.
Ecolution by Scania allows operators to establish uptime parameters and fuel use targets, while a rigorous regular maintenance schedule aims to eliminate unplanned downtime and ensure whole-of-life asset efficiency. For older vehicles, preventative maintenance programmes extend the working life of vehicles.
Supporting the ‘Ecolution by Scania’ awareness campaign will be a life-size representation of the new Scania Streamline truck, which is due for launch in Australia late in the year. As well, Scania will highlight its Total Transport Solution concept that includes after sales services such as Remote Area Servicing crews, Preventative Maintenance programmes, Maintenance and Repair contracts, as well as the highly successful Scania Truck Rental concept.
The Scania Streamline cab is the most advanced and efficient truck Scania has yet produced and it will be available in G- and R-series cabs. The life-size replica shows off the improved external aerodynamics as well as providing an insight into the raft of technical updates that are all aimed at fuel efficiency and maximising uptime.
Scania is also a leader in the deployment of Euro 6 compliant engines, with its second-generation ultra low emission units already on sale in Europe. Scania will have one Euro 6 compliant vehicle on its stand, featuring a 13-litre engine developing 490 hp and 2,550 Nm of torque. This is the most powerful six-cylinder engine in the Scania range, and it will appeal to operators who want to be seen to be actively reducing their environmental footprint.
Scania will also present one of only two special edition Black Amber V8 R-series trucks in Australia at the Show. The R 620 Black Amber is finished in a eye-catching metallic flake paint and comes complete with carbon fibre flames up the doors and a raft of luxury features inside, including a wood and leather trimmed steering wheel and special commemorative plaque.
“Scania will have something for everyone at the Perth Truck Show,” says Ron Szulc, Scania Australia Brand and Communication Manager.
“We will be looking forward to meeting operators who are keen to improve their profitability and maximise the efficiency of their vehicle fleets, as we have a variety of industry-leading solutions to achieve this.
“Scania is committed to improving productivity for its customers and has the right tools for the job,” he says.
