Scania awarded ‘Best in Show’.
The World’s Most Powerful Truck, Scania’s R 730 is awarded ‘Truck of the Show’ at Brisbane.
The first example of the World’s Most Powerful Truck to reach Australia had a powerful effect on the judges of the ‘Truck of the Show’ award presented at the Brisbane Truck Show last weekend.
The judges quickly came to the conclusion that there was nothing to beat Scania’s V8-powered 16.4-litre 730 hp prime mover.
The Scania R 730’s combination of advanced technology and innovation, suitability for purpose, productivity and aesthetic appeal, lifted it well above the competition from the many other exhibitors at the show.
The Scania R 730 was the centre of attention on the Scania stand throughout the Brisbane Truck Show. Strong levels of inquiry were generated by all the Scania vehicles on display, which also included a G 440 6x2 prime mover and a P 320 8x2 rigid chassis equipped with a Schmitz Cargobull refrigeration box – the interior of which had been converted into a ‘chill-out’ zone for visitors to the stand.
The Scania R 730 has now been confirmed for introduction to the Australian market during the second quarter of 2012, following the successful completion of a real world testing programme in Australian conditions to be carried out through the remainder of 2011.
The Scania R 730 will be travelling around the country in the next few months and will be available for test drives organised by Scania’s factory-owned branches.
Commenting on the truck show, Scania Australia Managing Director, Roger McCarthy, said:
“We are delighted with the response from show visitors to the Scania R 730. We held many very detailed discussions with potential customers all through the show, concerning our V8 range, as well as our five and six-cylinder powered vehicles.
“We were confident the new Scania R 730, the most powerful in our range, would draw a huge crowd, and it certainly did.
“Not only that, but winning the ‘Truck of the Show’ award is the icing on the cake for Scania. It is a suitable recognition of Scania’s in-house engineering innovation and advancement. It shows that the judges recognise that this high horsepower, high torque engine will deliver productivity benefits all round to operators, which is of course what they seek. It provides a tangible benefit to their bottom line.
“This most powerful of engines already meets and beats Australia’s most stringent emissions regulations, being compliant with Euro 5 Plus EEV (Enhanced Environmentally-friendly Vehicle) standards right from the start.
“We are very excited that we will soon embark on a nationwide roadshow to be able to bring this R 730 and the Scania V8 range to our existing and future customers so they can experience for themselves this magnificent and now, award-winning, vehicle,” Roger said.
