After obtaining his Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Economics, Per Hallberg joined Scania in 1977. At first working within the Industrial engineering area as Project Engineer, then changing into the field of Material planning. First as manager for Planning and Material control and then Material Manager at the Chassis Assembly. In 1985 Per Hallberg became Manager of Central Planning & Logistics and five years later he was appointed Technical Director for Scania Buses & Coaches. In 1997 he became Managing Director of Scania Nederland. Late 1999 he entered the position of Senior Vice President of Powertrain Production and Development. Per Hallberg was appointed Executive Vice President and Head of Production and Procurement Scania AB in 2001. In 2010 he was appointed Executive Vice President and Head of Research and Development, Purchasing.
