Scania EGR for Euro 4 and Euro 5

Scania XPI for performance and economy

Scania XPI is a unique, patented common rail injection system that operates at a maximum pressure of 2400 bar.

This pressure is significantly higher than other systems and as such affords a greater measure of control over timing and volume of fuel injection. The high level of precision delivers optimised performance and economy.

Three-stage injection for optimised combustion.
Maximum peak pressure of Scania XPI is 2400 bar. More importantly, maximum average pressure is 1800 bar. These unique characteristics give the possibility for three precisely timed and measured injections of fuel.

A pilot injection reduces combustion noise as well as helping to reduce emissions. The main injection gives efficient combustion at precisely the right instant. And post-combustion injection stimulates burning of carbon particulates and can control exhaust gas temperature.

Instantaneous recalculations for constant optimisation.
The volume, timing and pressure for each of the three injections are recalculated for each cylinder, for every cycle. The entire process is constantly monitored and adjusted to miniscule proportions, ensuring each cycle is fully optimised to give you the performance and economy you need.

According to operating conditions, not all three injections are required for each combustion cycle. This further minimises fuel consumption, for even better economy.
