Rigids

A comprehensive range of specifications covering all construction applications with rigid chassis based on two, three, four or five axles.

The diverse range of operating conditions and applications in the construction industry makes it inevitable that there will be numerous combinations of major components to choose from. The major applications within the construction segment range from heavy tippers in mining operations to on-road tippers, concrete mixers and concrete pumps.

Full technical support for bodybuilding is available for a vast range of applications.

Scania offers chassis prepared ex-factory for easy bodybuilding anywhere in the world.

Preparations include brackets, piping and wiring, as well as CAN-bus interface to integrate vehicle and bodywork functions.

A wide choice of power take-offs takes care of the need for auxiliary power.

Bodybuilding is also helped and weight saved by the use of Scania EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) for Euro 4 on most models, using no extra chassis-mounted equipment or additives compared with other solutions.

Cab and engine combinations:
For the P-series cabs, the engine offering extends from 230 to 380 hp Euro 4 and 380 to 420 hp Euro 5.

The G-series cab range covers engines from 230 to 480 hp Euro 4 and 380 to 420 hp Euro 5.

The power range associated with the R-series cabs includes all engines from 340 to 620 hp Euro 4. And for Euro 5 from 360 to 620 hp.

In addition to the P-,G- and R-series cab and engine combination there are also four EEV engine options available: 230, 280, 320 and 420 hp.

For the P-, G- and R-series cab range there are engines complying with Euro 3 legislation available.

All-wheel drive chassis are restricted to the power range 340 to 420 hp.

Axle configurations:
4x2, normal chassis/high chassis
4x4, high chassis
6x2, normal chassis
6x4, normal chassis/high chassis
6x6, high chassis
6x2, twin-steer, normal chassis
8x2, normal chassis
8x2, twin-steer, normal chassis
8x2, rear-steer, normal chassis
8x4, normal chassis/high chassis
8x4, rear-steer, normal chassis
8x6, high chassis
8x8, high chassis
10x4, rear-steer, normal chassis/high chassis

Single axles have difflocks. Tandem bogies also have inter-axle locks. Traction control is standard on all models.

For an optimised combination of off-road strength, brisk highway performance and economical fuel consumption, a combination of hub reduction drive axle(s) and 12+2-speed overdrive gearbox is recommended (power range 310 to 620 hp).

Vehicles specified for less arduous applications can have single reduction axles, which have the advantages of less weight and lower frictional losses.
