Scania ProCare prevents downtime for customers

28 JUNE 2023

Fuel transport provider Qstar is one of the customers that has chosen Scania ProCare, a comprehensive service package that proactively prevents downtime.

Qstar has a fleet with its own trucks and is also using other operators for transport. Since the deliveries are made all over Sweden, the distances the trucks cover are enormous, around 200,000-250,000 kilometres annually. That is why they have chosen to take precautions with ProCare. ”We hope that ProCare will prevent the trucks from coming to a standstill, as the cost for this is extremely high. If that is to happen, we pay for a driver that isn’t driving and a rental vehicle from another haulage company,” says Remi Skillingsås, Transport Manager, Qstar.

Care about the product

Comfort and safety are of the utmost importance for the company, a mindset that encourages the drivers to be proud of their vehicles and treat the trucks accordingly “We want our drivers to be comfortable in their work environment; the truck. Their job is challenging and comes with a lot of responsibility If you like what you do, and what you drive, you tend to be more caring about the product.” Another area of importance to Qstar is fuel consumption. Their own trucks run on HVO. “We have a great focus on how to decrease our own emissions, and to be as efficient as possible when driving.”

A way to be even more efficient

Maintenance is the foundation for this next level of cooperation between Scania and its customers. The trucks included in ProCare are monitored and evaluated daily, and components with a limited lifespan are changed before they might cause hassle. Trucks with advanced body builds or assignments with tight schedules and penalties for late deliveries would be the typical candidates for ProCare, where 100% planned uptime is the core purpose. Such as the transport of fuel, like Qstar.

Work at local workshop made easy

For Scania’s workshop in Norrköping, ProCare means repairs are replaced by proactively preventing downtime. Torbjörn Ericson’s experience is highly valued. For more than two decades, he’s been working with service and sales here. Over the years, he’s seen many urgent repairs due to a lack of long-term planning. But today, when a digital system can alert when the parts need to be changed, this can stop. Several changes of parts with a limited lifespan can be done at the scheduled service appointments. This means it only takes a few hours instead of a whole day. “Our service managers also check for errors in Scania’s systems, analyse them and if needed, contact the customers.”
