Echo in media after Spanish press conference
Around 30 trade press and mass media representatives attended when the Spanish YETD 2007 was launched at a press conference in the centre of Madrid on 14 February. MD José Badia presented the YETD objectives and Scania’s position on road safety and focus on the driver. Mr. Antonio Riu, Driver Trainer responsible from the Spanish government, emphasised the need for such initiatives, and focused on the social recognition professional drivers will encounter through the YETD.
Mr. Miranda, Spain’s Deputy Coordinator of road transport, declared his full support for Scania’s YETD initiative. ”The primary objective for Spain is to reach optimal levels to improve road safety and efficiency. We need the society to know our needs and our road heroes. Thanks to this type of activities, our professional drivers’ needs and efforts will be known to the whole society. I am really impressed by the ambition of this competition and I am really looking forward to see a Spanish champion in 2007!”

Third time around for Martina

Martina Adorni is the first female truck driver to send in her application to the Italian YETD 2007.
“I took part in both previous editions of this exciting competition and it was a great experience for me. YETD focuses on safety and driver’s ability, which in my opinion are the most important qualities in driving. The driver is himself responsible both for safety and saving fuel”, she says.
