The competition includes theoretical and practical tests according to the European Union directives on compulsory driver training. The Young European Truck Driver competition 2005 was supported by the European Commission and IRU (International Road Transport Union). Sponsors of Young European Truck Driver 2005 were Michelin and Shell.
