Scania Transport conference 2005Scania Transport Conference 2005 – “Meeting the Challenges: Road Transport for the Future” was held in Brussels on 5 October in the Autoworld Museum.

Representatives from the EU institutions, opinion leaders, international and national transport experts, industry representatives and media were present at the event.

The aim of the conference was to explore how a competitive and sustainable European transport industry, where road safety and environmental issues play a fundamental role, can be achieved.

Scania hosts major European transport conference
EU Transport Commissioner Jacques Barrot, Catherine Day, Director General, DG Environment of the European Commission, and Etienne Krug from the World Health Organisation (WHO) will be among the speakers at the Scania Transport Conference in Brussels on Wednesday, 5 October.

New road safety initiatives from Scania
Scania has decided to support the World Health Organisation (WHO) in its worldwide road safety efforts. Another initiative is that Scania will offer the supplementary driver training that will be mandatory for professional bus and truck drivers in the European Union from 2008 and 2009, respectively.
