Welcome!

As a leading worldwide provider of transport and logistics systems, Scania has been a proactive player in promoting safe driving. Road Safety is not primarily about advanced vehicle design and infrastructure, it is a matter of human behaviour and attitudes. This understanding is vital in Scania’s R&D work to ensure that our vehicle design do the utmost to support the driver in making the right decisions behind the wheel. A skilled and well educated driver makes a difference. He or she has a better opportunity to avoid accidents and save lives on the roads, as well as lower the operational costs for the employer, for example through reduced fuel consumption.

Road accidents kill nearly 1.2 million people worldwide every year, and injure millions more. They are the second leading cause of death for people aged 5 to 25, with devastating impact on families and communities. Fortunately, there is a growing recognition that road traffic injuries can be prevented. Scania cooperates with the WHO to improve road safety globally and supports their work by providing access to our experts and global market network.

Scania’s Young European Truck Driver competitions – the third edition taking place in 2007 – are aimed at stimulating excellence among professional drivers from the beginning of their careers. With already 12,000 young drivers registered in Europe in the first quarter of 2007.
