Scania Road Safety Conference 2003

Scania's third Road Safety Conference in Brussels puts focus on the driver.

The frightening death toll of 40,000 persons killed in road accidents within the EU-15 per year shall be halved until 2010, according the policy of the European Commission. This requires concerted efforts by all involved: politicians, transport operators, manufacturers, regulatroy authorities, vehicle drivers and other road users.

For Scania, continuous product development in combination with a focus on training of drivers and customers, presents a clear opportunity to influence road safety in the best way. Scania aims to be a leader in active safety. We develop our products in order to minimise the number of accidents as well as the damage they cause. But we must also actively reach out to customers and road users in general because our products influence their living.

Scania regard the driver as the most important actor for improving road safety. We want to do our utmost to support him or her to make the right decisions behind the steering wheel.
