Scania at Brussels International Motor Show

2001-01-13 - 2001-01-21

Scania at the 79th truck exhibition in Brussels, 13-21 JanuaryThe Scania stand in hall 6 of the exhibition area is a completely new concept. Covering a sur-face of 2,100 sq m, it is larger than ever before. On display is a representative selection of 4-series trucks – 4 tractor units and five truck chassis – as well as a couple of cab modules.

Making its world debut is Scania's brand new 12-litre Euro 3-engine with 470 hp. This engine features a new high-pressure fuel injection system, Scania HPI, and turbo-compounding, a technology pioneered by Scania on trucks with the previous 11-litre engine generation 10 years ago. Combining these technologies has produced a compact and powerful engine with low emission levels. Torque is high and the engine is particularly quiet in operation.

Exhibited for the first time in Belgium is Scania's new top-of-the-line model, the R164 with the 16-litre Euro 3 V8 with outputs of 480 and 580 hp. The remaining seven trucks on display illustrate the width of Scania's 4-series truck range for all types of operation.
